Assalamulaikum, Salam Sejahtera and Salam 1Malaysia.
I wish to thank the Board of Directors of Perbadanan Hang Tuah Jaya for appointing me as the fourth Chief Executive Officer effective from 1st June 2010. Perbadanan Hang Tuah Jaya (PHTJ) is a wholly owned government corporation governed by the Hang Tuah Jaya Enactment 2005 and was established on the 1st June 2005 and officially launched by the then Prime Minister of Malaysia, YAB Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi on the 25 June 2006.
Since then, PHTJ has fulfilled its initial objectives of drawing up the 10 Year Master Development Plan and has successfully played an active role in the establishment of the Majlis Perbandaran Hang Tuah Jaya (Hang Tuah Jaya City Council) on the 1st January 2010. PHTJ is now ready to move on to explore and embrace new challenges in line with Melaka’s status as a developed city state in 2010.
Among the new roles which PHTJ has had to adopt is a more corporate outlook within its management and a more distinctive focus on commercial interests in new and upcoming projects. As Melaka moves into the next development lap, PHTJ must be ready to provide the services and support necessary to ensure the success of the state government and the administration.
Indeed, the scope of PHTJ’s work is wide and varied as the area of Hang Tuah Jaya covers 135,000 acres encompassing all 3 districts in Melaka. As Hang Tuah Jaya is the state’s administrative hub and the residents and businesses within this area have multiple needs, PHTJ must strive to provide the services in line with its mission and objectives. Briefly, among the current responsibilities of PHTJ is the development of green technology and environmentally friendly services in tandem with the National Green Policy and the development and promotion of specialized tourism products such as the Melaka Warisan Homestay and the Melaka Botanical Gardens. These are a few examples of PHTJ’s revamped and updated roles and responsibilities which are directly relevant to the state government’s objectives.
I am truly honored to be given the opportunity to serve and Insya Allah my previous experience in the private sector will help me perform in this challenging and thriving environment. With the support of the Rt. Hon. Chief Minister of Melaka, the Board of Directors, my predecessors, colleagues and peers, I hope to lead the management and staff of Perbadanan Hang Tuah Jaya to greater heights in the near future as the success of this corporation will ultimately be the success of the State of Melaka and her people.
Wa’alaikumsalam Warahmahtullahiwabarakatuh.
